New Girls Basketball League!
Oct 24 2014

LTAA is pleased to announce that we will be offering a separate Girls basketball program at the Rookie (2nd-3rd) and College Divisions (4th-5th), as well as the usual Pro Girls Division (6th-8th) for the 2014-2015 basketball season. Depending on the enrollment levels the structure may be different then our usual league. If we do not have enough girls to put together at least 4 separate teams in a division, it will be a less formal format. We will have a practice night for all the girls of a given age group (2nd-3rd and 4th-5th) to practice all together, in a clinic style format. There will be a specific Saturday game time and the girls will be divided into ad-hoc teams for that day. Since they will all receive the same instruction and coaching during practice, the ad hoc nature of the teams should not be a problem. This gets every one on the court twice a week without playing the same opponent every week or dealing with bye weeks. The games will have officials. We are also exploring playing against other local leagues similar to the softball program, in which case we may be able to form set teams even if we have less than enough girls for 4 teams. But we cannot guarantee this at this point, so we want everyone to be fully aware of the possibilities. And it is also possible that one division may have enough for 4 teams and one may not.

We are keeping the usual league as co-ed, not specifically boys, so you may chose either the co-ed league or the girls league for 2nd-5th grade. The Prep (1st grade) will remain co-ed.

When you register your daughter please indicate "co-ed" or "Girls" in the special request section, in addition to any other request. If you have already registered your daughter for basketball please email Matt Traynor at matthewtraynor82@hotmail.com to indicate your daughter's choice of league. Also, we will allow some flexibility in finalizing which league you may choose. If you select the girls league and your daughter really wants to play on a formal, set team, but if we just don't get there this year with the numbers or inter-league play, there will be short period where you could decide to select the co-ed league instead. Once registration has closed and we know our participation numbers we will be able to let everyone know where we stand with the league format.

Please see thae attached flyer for more information regarding the basketball program.

We ask for eveyone's patientice as we get this new program off the ground, as I am sure there wil be growing pains.

If you have any questions, please contact Matt Traynor at matthewtraynor82@hotmail.com.
